Vendor Rating
Vendor Rating is an analysis of the Suppliers' Performances in order to estimate the suppliers real technical/quality competencies related to delivered products.
Ansaldo Energia also adopts a final assessment of supplier activities to provide further guarantees of the quality of products purchased and to monitor the technical and quality progress made. Members of staff, conversant with product development and all contract-related problems, working closely with the suppliers, are directly involved in the assessment method.
A list of the materials delivered during the three months analysed is extracted and a questionnaire is prepared for the corresponding order which is divided into main categories of activity (design, manufacture, construction and delivery). A short evaluation, based on answers to the questionnaire, will be loaded into the software, checked and when extracted, produce certain numeric global evaluations regarding the suppliers performances.
Numerous conclusions can be drawn by analysing these results from a technical,
qualitative and management point of view as well as with respect to delivery
time. The analysis, extended to various suppliers gives a general assessment on
qualification status. Trends can then be examined to evaluate the improvements
or deterioration in quality performance.
Where the evaluation results unsatisfactory Ansaldo Energia informs the relevant suppliers requesting them to take the necessary action, urgently, in order to improve product quality and achieve adequate acceptability standards. Vendor Rating is therefore part of a dynamic company quality policy to bring a product to the world market that fully satisfies customers in terms of performance, delivery time, cost and quality.
