Turbogenerators
Ansaldo Energia produced its first air-cooled turbogenerators in the early 1920s. Company’s experience covers also the design and construction of hydrogen and hydrogen-water cooled turbogenerators.
Since 1950, about 500 air cooled units in the 10 to 330 MVA range have left the Genoa production facility for installation worldwide, and more than 200 units in the 40 to 1,220 MVA range have been manufactured over the last forty years.
Nowadays the power generating range, following the type of cooling system used (air, hydrogen, or hydrogen + stator water), starts from 20 MW (geothermal applications).
The global installed turbogenerating capacity is over 100,000 MVA.
